About Edna Miller:I've been a professional photographer in the greater Bulloch County area for over 35 years. I've had the pleasure of photographing generations of weddings within a family.
I was born and raised in Dublin, GA. I moved to Statesboro in 1971 to attend Georgia Southern. I began shooting family and friends and reading everything available on the subject. In May 1973, while still managing the Camera Department at Woolworth's, I photographed the wedding of Kirby and Becky Waters, which I consider to be my professional work.
In 1975, I met and married Frank Miller, and opened a home studio. My husband has always been a strong influence behind me. With his encouragement, my business has gone great distances. Photographing weddings has always been my first love. I try to do it with a sense of humor especially under the stress of all the emotions a wedding can create. I'm at my best under pressure.
We at Miller Photo prefer to arrange a 30-minute session with the bride and her family about 90 minutes before the wedding, then 30 minutes with the groom and his family, leaving the last 30 minutes before the ceremony to unwind, visit with family and do makeup touchups. We try to take as many photos before as possible while still holding with the tradition of not seeing the bride before the ceremony. After another 30-minute session immediately following the wedding, the couple is off to the reception. We prefer shooting as the event unfolds, not interrupting the order of the ceremony.
Photographing weddings is one of the best jobs anyone could imagine. It is a wonderful career. I'm with people at the happiest times of their lives. I like to see people come in smiling and leave smiling even more.
Since becoming a grandmother several times over, we have increased her business to include children and family portraits. Realizing the vast difference in weddings and portraiture, I have returned to school, attending many summer courses at the photography school at North Georgia College, numerous seminars and conventions. It's important to be current with the latest trends and state-of-the-art equipment.
Miller Photo is a member of the Georgia Professional Photographers Association and offers a full-service studio offering weddings, anniversaries, recitals, graduations, reunions, and portraits.
